“There’s lots of bad reasons to start a company. But there’s only one good, legitimate reason, and I think you know what it is: it’s to change the world.” —Phil Libin, Evernote CEO
When I formed Synergy Asset Strategies, Inc. my intention was to create an excellent investment management firm and make a difference for my clients and my community. My goal is to change the way we think about investing and in turn change my corner of the world.
Often we invest considering only monetary profit and loss, risks and reward. Rarely do we ask the question “Why invest?” For me, investing is more than a ticket to financial freedom, it is a valuable tool of change that takes many forms. We may invest time in a meaningful project or organization; we invest values in the hearts and minds of our children; we invest in our own education and learning.
Investing is a way to create a legacy through the choices we make. Using our values as a guide in determining which companies benefit from our money encourages companies to give back, minimize their footprint and improve their business policies by respecting the environment and the communities in which they succeed. Our financial legacy to our children, then, becomes a legacy of stewardship for the greater global community which protects and enriches our children’s children and generations to come.
My parents taught me to treat others as I want to be treated and to conduct myself with honesty and integrity at all times. A valuable investment in my future. I live my life by these simple principles and they are an integral part of my overall business strategy. I also take cues from nature by striving to emulate successful natural systems as I develop investment strategies to stand the test of time. By staying nimble and paying attention to the evolution of monetary systems, companies and investment vehicles Synergy Asset Strategies will remain relevant and innovative in a continuously changing world.
Just as I have created a firm that I hope represents more than my desire to succeed in business, we can create a tailored personal investment strategy that represents more than your desire to make money. Let’s work together to make a difference.
